McKEON President and Chief Executive Ocer, Texas Medical Center President's Perspective I was recently appointed the seventh President and Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Medical Center. It is a tremendous honor, responsibility and the opportunity of a lifetime. I am extremely grateful to the TMC Board of Directors and the leadership across the mem- ber institutions who have been so gracious in their support and encouragement. Every morning, as I drive into the Texas Medical Center, I am awestruck by the sheer enormity of the world's largest medical city. As I pass the buildings and people of each institu- tion, I take tremendous pride that the world's greatest talents in research and clinical care are located here. Over the past 70 years, our institutions have risen individually to become the best in the world in oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, to name a few, in both adult and pediatric care. Our leaders have come together in the spirit of collaboration and defined a strategic plan that serves as our guidepost to transform this medical city into a leading destination for life sciences. Our future is extremely bright and we are only limited by our imagination and willingness to work together to build upon our vision. Mark Mulligan/© Houston Chronicle. Used with permission.
