Cord blood—blood from the umbilical cord—contains stem cells. If banked after the umbilical cord is cut, cord blood can cure dozens of diseases, yet more than 90 percent of the stem cells in cord blood are discarded as medical waste today, according to cordbloodawareness.org. Speak with your doctor or health care provider to learn more about regenerative medicine and the benefits of banking cord blood.
